Y Types Out & About in North Wales 2011

The M G Octagon Clwyd Tour 2011 was organised by Richie & Syliva this being their 19th run.

The start was at Ruthin and as we left the car park we were asked a question “Which month & year did Abingdon Works close” and at the coffee stop at the Crooked Horn, Brynford another question “What colour is the black box on an aeroplane”.

We had 16 clues on the way round and we went to the view point at Gwaenysgor which was fantastic over looking the Irish Sea and Prestatyn. Had not realised there were so many wind vanes in the sea.

The finish was at The Faenol Fawr Country House Hotel, Bodelwyddan were we had a great 3 course lunch. The winners of the Broken Halfshaft which broke on a previous run was award to Jim & Kay Price in their YA.

Below are some pictures of the run. It was a Tulip route with questions on the way round. We managed to come 2nd and the Winner was a YA owner so it is true that Y Types held their end up.

There were approximately 45 cars on the run. The tour covered about 38 miles along some very narrow roads and steep descents with great views (Horseshoe Pass being one) and pretty villages along the way. A very enjoyable day out which we whole heartedly recommend everyone considers entering next year, the weather was an absolute bonus.
