The photo is of Jacks car in 1994 leaving the site of the old MG factory. This is now a car park behind the police headquarters in Abingdon. The building in the distance is the Car Company offices and it is believed that the large window was once John Thornley’s office.
History of Car
I purchased the car from a lockup near Guildford in September 1986. The car was in a very sorry state and had to be dragged from the garage as the brakes had seized. Work began on its restoration almost immediately, with copious photographs being taken to assist with the eventual rebuild. The rebuild was a complete body off restoration taking a total of six years, where many body panels were rebuilt and the mechanics renewed or overhauled. I hope to include a photographic record and more detailed account of the whole rebuild on this site when time permits.
