Description
The original springs fracture eventually. These replacements are made from heat-treated steel rod, with ground ends. Not to be confused with weaker springs made from flat strip sold for T Types!
Fitting the Spring This is best done by two people. One compressing the spring using say two hammer handles (or a T-shaped tube with a slot cut in the bottom edge so that the split pin can be inserted through it) and the other fitting the split pin. However, the spring can be fitted single-handed can be by firstly wiring the spring coils together in say 3 places using 1.5 mm wire. Once the washer and split pin are in place, cut the wires and remove them.
