A Brief History of Y 0543, MG 7217.
MG Y0543 joined the Pardee family on New Year’s Day 1977. She had come from Abingdon, England, where 2 of her 3 former owners had been employed at the MG works.
In 1992/1993 she under went a frame -off restoration. Paint, upholstery, and major machine work were subcontracted; all other work was done by the Pardee family. 75 bags of sandblast sand were consumed; 370 sandwich bags of fasteners were cleaned by son Nick, 12 years old.
Within 7 months, the Y-type was complete and as a zero-mile restoration, set off on the New England MG ‘T’ Register “Skyline Soiree” tour from Front Royal, VA to Gatlinburg, TN via the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. She performed flawlessly.

YA3200 – The Car that features in the 2012 Film ‘The Iron Lady’
Owner : Mike Kelloway.
Location : East Sussex.
Chassis No. : Y 3200.
First registered : 6th July, 1949.
Information on Y 3200 from owner :
The car has had three owners since June 1978. Its previous owner acquired the car on 22nd. June 1985 and was living in Fleet, Hampshire.
I purchased the car in Guildford on 7th October 1991, with its original number plate of UMG 24. This shows that the car was originally supplied by University Motors of Picadilly and, to my knowledge, is the second oldest UMG plate currently known to exist on a Y type.
My understanding is that the car was painted Trafalgar Blue sometime in its past but was restored to its original colour of Almond Green before I purchased it.
During my ownership the car has covered just on 40,000 miles. During that time the engine has been rebuilt due to a broken crankshaft and fitted with a lead free cylinder head. Over the period I have broken two half shafts which have been replaced with two specially treated, heat hardened shafts.
